Adult Learning Opportunities

Come join Cedarwood faculty members and deepen your connection with Waldorf Education.

Cedarwood is excited to offer a series of Adult Learning Opportunities designed to enrich your personal journey with Waldorf Education. Whether you’re a longtime member of the community or a new family seeking to know more about your child’s experience, this series offers a thoughtful space for reflection, growth, and connection.

The first session focuses on the adult’s personal growth and self-awareness through the lens of Waldorf Education. For parents and other community members who are seeking a deeper connection with themselves and the world, this session offers a space to explore inner development and its impact on how we live and support children.

Each session will begin with an evening lecture followed by six deepening weekly sessions. Adults are invited to attend sessions as they are able–opting for just the evening program or adding the weekly sessions. Weekly gatherings are currently happening for the first session. All are welcome, whether you attended the evening presentation or not.

In Waldorf education, one of the core principles we emphasize is the importance of understanding and cultivating the inner life of the adult, often referred to as inner development. This inner life is not static but active—a realm where consciousness can reflect upon itself, allowing us to truly take hold of who we are. Engaging in this practice forms a deep, living relationship with ourselves and the world around us, fostering well-being and a more profound sense of connection.

The development of the inner life enhances our ability to perceive the living essence of the world—an essence that is closely linked to imagination, the natural way children learn. By strengthening our inner capacity to "take hold" of ourselves, we awaken to the fluid and ever-evolving nature of life, freeing ourselves from the rigid patterns of everyday consciousness. As we deepen this practice, we not only support our own growth but also model for children the wisdom of self-knowledge and how the world lives within us.

Join us for an evening of exploration, where we will engage in contemplative exercises designed to nurture inner development. Our journey will continue into Tuesday mornings for those interested in furthering this transformative work. Similar themes and interactive sessions will be offered in both gatherings, allowing for shared reflection and growth.

Stay tuned for information about future sessions.
