Who remembers making these as a child?! This is a fun activity that hones fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination while also creating wonderful decorations to make your home festive.

Paper chains are a fun and simple activity for children to practice cutting with scissors and gluing paper rings together to make any size and length chains to hang around the house. What’s nice is that you can utilize any paper you have on hand. I chose to use a paper bag but you could use newspaper, old magazines, and even recycled watercolor or drawing paper to make these festive garlands.

Materials:
Glue stick
Scissors
Paper

Cut paper into similar sized long rectangular strips.

Begin by making one loop by rolling glue on one of the thin side of a piece of paper. Hold the two ends together for a few seconds while the glue sets.

Take a second piece of paper and roll glue on one of the ends as you did with the first piece. Thread this piece through your first ring and hold the ends together to set the glue for a few seconds.

Continue in the fashion until you have a chain of desired length! You can also make several shorter chains and connect them at the end.
