Leaf Jewelry

Here is a craft that gets children outside on a walk where their little hands and eyes can explore the different leaves in nature. Go on a “leaf hunt” with your child to find a handful of thick leaves (make sure you know which ones are poisonous or a skin irritant). The leaves in this picture are camellia leaves, which are a perfect thickness for this craft.

If you gather many leaves, you can make a bracelet, necklace, and a crown… perhaps a set for each member of your family or friends!

Supplies:
Yarn or cord
Yarn needle
Scissors
Hole punch
Thick leaves

To make a necklace, help your child punch holes on each leaf as shown.

For bracelets or crowns, place the holes further down, toward the middle edges of each leaf.

Cut a length of yarn long enough for your item (necklace, bracelet, or crown), with enough to tie the ends in a bow.

Have your child thread the yarn onto the needle and sew each leaf onto the strand of yarn.

Once they have attached the desired leaves, slip the needle off the yarn.

The nature jewelry is now ready to be tied on!
