Daisy chains are fun and easy to make! Once you learn the technique, you’ll be whipping up flower crowns for the whole family.

First, go to the backyard or walk around your neighborhood looking for little lawn daisies. The longer the stems, the better (aim for at least 4”). I used 45 daisies to make an adult-sized crown. Once you have your daisies, you’re ready to make your chain! That’s all you need.

Directions:

Take a daisy and hold it sideways with the stem out to the right:

Then take another daisy and cross it in front of the first, with the stem pointing down:

Keeping the heads close together, bend the stem of the second flower around behind the first stem, then cross it in front of the head of the second flower:

And that’s all there is to it! Keep repeating with new flowers until your chain reaches the desired length. To make a crown, make a chain long enough to go around your head, and tuck the stems at the end of the chain into the first few loops of the chain. Trim ends as needed.

You can make chains with all kinds of flowers, as long as the stems are long, thin, and flexible. Try mixing in dandelions for a fun, sunny look!

If you have extra flowers, why not make a crown for a beloved pet or doll?
